The Terminal. Not the movie.

Note:  For most of us, making a Choice is Routine. Some of the pictures presented beside have been taken in PLACES where making a Choice is Luxury.

I love airports. Such a high speed motion of feelings and stories. A parade of nations, accents and colors. A parade of faces and styles. And a parade of gadgets, as well.

Be aware, all plane tickets sold this season include the “on the ground show”.  Once you stepped into the ‘secure zone’, the reel begins. It goes like a carousel taking a private whirl for each fresh new passenger. “Economy” or “Business class” are all privileged eyewitnesses.

Wrapping your senses with a seducing aroma of black coffee, it entices you to spend a few moments in front of the huge windows offering an awesome view over the enormous machineries. They are getting ready to give you ‘a different perspective’ over the earth you step on, from the sky above. In the background, some engine-birds are taking off or landing with the finest precision of a gramophone arm.

Sometimes you can even see the Captains with their white starched shirts decorated with stripes imposing the respect of a rank. They are incredible calm, sitting there in their cockpit reading something like a map or making some kind of “buttons checking” as flying would be that simple.

Impressive performance. Such a parade. The great Cameron would definitely say some appreciative words about “the act” to a next gala.

Your eyes are captured by motion - feet are stepping all directions. You witness long passionate good-byes and feel embarrassed as you simper remembering your own moments of affection. The parade goes on in flip –flops large enough for a student-like vacation - no large luggage, no much money. It follows some business briefcases seasoned with high heels or Italian silk ties- the kind that always step in for a last moment shopping at the duty-free. Some others, just like me, the Tom Ford’s cardigan style, are frenetically typing in front of their notebook, as their notes are going to be published in the next month‘s Esquire edition.

It is almost impossible not to enjoy the last act of the parade - ‘the tech show’. It takes place on the ‘Gadgets deck’. Sennheizer head sets, Ipod touch, Kindle ebook reader, MacBook Pro, notebooks, 3G phones and wireless internet outstanding from all the others trade marks. You know them all .And you have them all there, in front of your Terminal.

A last call announces your destination. I love airports. Endless stories about choices. Parades.
